Fiddlehead Recipes:Our favorite way to prepare fresh fiddleheads is as follows:Clean thoroughly and place in boiling water and boil for 7 to 8 minutes. Top with butter and salt and pepper to taste and serve as a delicious vegetable side dish. Most fiddlehead recipes will call for blanched fiddleheads. To blanch fiddleheads, clean thoroughly and drop in boiling water for 1 minute. Blanched fiddleheads would then be used in recipes where they would complete cooking. To freeze fresh fiddleheads blanch as described above and drain and place in freezer bags and place in freezer. Use frozen fiddleheads throughout the year until the new crop arrives in the spring!
